About Me
Hello, I am Alana. I’m a qualified psychological therapist working with adults, children (7+), adolescents and parents .
As an experienced therapist working in both the NHS and private practice, I offer support to adults, children and adolescents facing mental health challenges including depression, anxiety-related issues, low self-esteem; obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD); and PTSD.
I help children (7+), adolescents, and adults to make sense of their feelings, build confidence and develop strategies to manage difficult emotions. I also offer support to parents who may feel worried or unsure how best to help their child.
I provide a warm, supportive, and empathetic space where we can work together to understand what keeps distress going in your life. Through collaborative exploration, we’ll identify unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour that may be affecting you in both the short and long term. You will learn practical strategies to help you manage difficult emotions, while gently exploring triggers and underlying beliefs that may be holding you back.
I combine my specialism in Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT) with a compassionate, warm humanistic approach. When apropriate, I integrate elements of other evidence-based therapies such as Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
I believe you are the expert of your story, and I’m here to support and empower you as you reconnect with your inner strengths.
I am fluent in both English and Portuguese and am happy to offer sessions in either language.
